Welcome to Water Logics–Water Treatment and Filtration for El Dorado County and surrounding communities. My name is Gordon Brenner and I own and operate Water Logics.
My wife and I moved here from the Bay Area in 2000 to build our dream house and live in the country–to get away from it all. Like you, we live in an area not supplied with water from a public distribution system.
We installed a well and for about two years the water was great. Then we noticed that our water turned brown and rusty and smelled like rotten eggs. We found brown and black staining on our freshly laundered clothes. My wife looked at me and said, “FIX IT! You’re the water professional!”
She knew I could fix the problem because when we moved here I retired from my job as a Grade IV Water Treatment Professional from the Contra Costa Water District to build our house. I did that for 23 years. I also worked on the side as a licensed water treatment contractor installing water systems for dairies for a few years.
So we decided to look at our options. It was then that we discovered that the options provided by the largest “water treatment” companies in town were limited.
These companies use ion-exchange systems to remove all the “bad” constituents in water, exchanging the bad stuff for sodium. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to drink “salt water.” Nor do I want to flush salt water into my septic and destroy the enzymes that help to break down household waste water. I don’t want to be pumping out my septic system every few years.
The other option is to backflush the salt water onto the ground. To me that’s not an option. Salt is not good in the soil and kills trees and pollutes natural waterways.
After we set-up a treatment system in our own home, we decided that El Dorado County residents needed other options besides salt. So we started Water Logics to provide local residents with other water treatment options.
While there are similarities in water problems on the Western Slope such as heavy iron and mineral content, other problems exist as well and taking a “one size fits all approach” is not the best solution.
